Which Restaurant near Nationals Park Keeps Its Bar Prices on Game Nights?
Jackie Restaurant, an American restaurant at 79 Potomac Ave SE in Navy Yard, runs happy hour from 4 to 6 PM every day the doors are open, Tuesday through Sunday, including game nights. The restaurant is across from Nationals Park.
The pregame here is a bar with a wine list and a kitchen run by Executive Chef Domenico Cornacchia, at the 4-to-6 prices until six.
For the full sit-down version of a game night, course by course, there is a separate pre-game dinner at Jackie guide. This page is only about the two hours before the game.
What Is on the Bar from 4 to 6?
The prices are simple: $5 for any beer, $7 for any wine by the glass, $9 for a cocktail built from your choice of spirit and mixer, or the bar's Daily Punch. Three of the beers were brewed for this bar and are poured nowhere else.
Dachnik, a Helles Lager by Weihenstephaner
A 4.4% true Helles lager brewed exclusively for Jackie by Weihenstephaner, served by the pint. Regularly $11, $5 from 4 to 6.
The Offside, a Session IPA by Right Proper
A 5.5% session IPA made exclusively for Jackie by Right Proper, served by the pint.
Dolly, a Blonde Belgian Ale by St. Bernardus
A 5.5% blonde Belgian ale brewed exclusively for Jackie by St. Bernardus, in a 330 ml bottle. The same brewery's 8% Tripel is on the list too, for the night you are not planning to walk anywhere fast.
The Bar Bites from 4 to 6
Daily baked focaccia with olive oil and sea salt, marinated olives, a potato and crab croquette with spicy aioli, crispy squash blossom with lemon ricotta, meatballs in Roquefort fondue, Angus beef sliders with caramelized onion and gruyère, beer-battered cod sliders with tzatziki, and a pound of Black Diamond mussels in white wine. Enough to be dinner if you want it to be.
How Do You Time the Bar Around First Pitch?
Before an evening game, arrive from four and order at the 4-to-6 prices. For an afternoon start the order flips: the game first, then a late dinner, since Jackie is open until 10 PM Tuesday through Sunday. Jackie is closed on Mondays, which matters when a homestand opens on one.
The day of the week adds a second layer on top of the 4-to-6 prices. Tuesdays bring $5 martinis at the bar. Thursdays take 50% off every bottle of wine on the list. On Fridays the room opens at noon for brunch and hands over to the 4-to-6 prices at four, so a Friday night game can start with eggs and end with a pint without a second reservation.
